Video Art meets Documentary Filmmaking. Highlights from 2 recent Documentary Art projects.
For the Zaha Hadid-designed Chicago Pavilion we created a 3 part documentary entitled Chicago: Past, Present and Future. Our aim was not just to tell but to evoke an experience of the city: a polluted and noisy place 100 years ago. Our solution was to create a variety of atmospheric sequences though clouds of smoke swirling around the audience revealing glimpses and sounds of the past.
The second project for Zaha Hadid was evoking Egypt as a country that is much more than just desert and pyramids. By collaging continually evolving images we created a portrait of a country with many personalities: natural beauty, artistry, culture and, of course, people going about their daily tasks.
