Stairlight is a permanent installation in a new build currently under development in Bethesda, Maryland. Taking inspiration from the nearby historic C&O canal, this project combines architecture, technology, history and nature.

Flush mounted into concrete walls either side of the grand staircase, a series of tree-like sculpted glass columns 26‘ high tower over passers by while sunlight reflecting off the textured glass shimmers across the stairs.

At dusk the whole area undergoes a dramatic transformation as LED video panels hidden beneath the glass are illuminated. Instantly the staircase is full of gently cascading digital textures of blues and greens, transforming the glass into windows of water and the vertical concrete spaces into silhouettes of trees.
