A mysterious young girl appears and disappears ghost-like on the exterior wall of a 300-year-old chapel. Watching, listening, trying to speak before disappearing into the fabric of the brick wall.
Whispers was commissioned for Secret Garden an event along the Thames presented by Greenwich and Docklands International Festival and curated by Theresa Bergne with Alice Sharp. It was intended to be viewed late afternoon until nightfall allowing the projection to clearly interact with its surroundings.
The video projector was cleverly disguised allowing no noise, cables or distractions to interfere with the viewer. The invisibility of the technology was important in helping sustain the magical environment of the installation, creating an enigmatic atmosphere before the sun sets.
